Argentina roadtrip

This trip includes, in Buenos Aires, two different tours: one to the north and another one to the south of the city. In both of them you will not just learn about the history of the city, but also you will go over the different neighbourhoods like a local. Also, instead of going to a traditional tango show, you will go to an authentic milonga (where locals and visitors gather to dance tango).

In Calafate, you will have 2 nontraditional tours, so that you can see much more than the glacier: a 4×4 excursion to the Fosiles Canyon, an archeological site where the natives lived hundreds of years ago and a patagonic dinner in a cave that you won’t forget.

Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to Argentina: Arrival to Buenos Aires and transfer to the hotel (Palermo)

Stop At: Palo Santo Hotel, Bonpland 2275, C1425FWC CABA, Argentina
You will be transferred to the hotel in the neighborhood of Palermo. Your local guide will welcome you and some recommendations to make the most of local cuisine.

Day 2: Flight to El Calafate: Excursion 4x4 to Argentino Lake, archaeological site and a patagonian dinner in a cave

Stop At: El Calafate, Santa Cruz Province, Argentina
In the morning you will take a plane to El Calafate and you will be transferred to your hotel. In the afternoon you will be the protagonist of a 4x4 excursion that will take you to the turquoise waters of Lake Argentino and a trail that offers a spectacular view of the Andes Mountains until you reach an archaeological site with cave paintings of the pre-Tehuelche culture (more than 4,000 years old). In the evening, you will enjoy a patagonian dinner in acave, before heading back to the hotel.

Day 3: Los Glaciares National Park: Country day at Nibepo Aike Ranch and sailing in Lago Argentino

Stop At: Parque Nacional Los Glaciares, Avenida Del Libertador 1302, El Calafate Z9405AHY Argentina
In the morning, you will have an excursion to a typical ranch, Nibepo Aike, you will know the place, its history and about the rural activities of Patagonia, you can enjoy equestrian demonstrations and a barbacue as a "gaucho". In the afternoon you will sailing on Lake Argentino to be closer to the famous Perito Moreno glacier.

Day 4: Sailing on the Upsala Channel, Estancia Cristina and Trekking Cañadón de los Fósiles

Stop At: Upsala Glacier, El Calafate Argentina
One of the best experiences you can experience within the Los Glaciares National Park will be to embark on the Upsala Canal, with a majestic view to the western front of the Upsala Glacier, sailing among mountains, icebergs and icebergs to disembark at Estancia Cristina where you will board a 4x4 to ascend the Feruglio cord. There you will leave the vehicle and begin a hike to the Upsala Viewpoint, with views of Lake Guillermo, the eastern front of the Upsala Glacier and the Southern Patagonian Continental Ice Field. At this point you will start the 14km trek to enter the Cañadón de los Fósiles, named for its great concentration of fossils, which were discovered by glacial action.

Day 5: Welcome to El Chalten: The village of trekking

Stop At: Road to El Chalten, El Chalten Argentina
In the morning you will go to the car rental office to pick up your car. After approximately 3 hours, you will reach El Chaltén, at the foot of the Mount Fitz Roy, and on the banks of the Río de las Vueltas you will find this town known as the "capital of trekking".

Free afternoon to explore this picturesque town and its surroundings.

Recommendation: Some simple and short walks are: Chorrillo del Salto (1 hs) - Mirador del Torre (3 hs) - Laguna Capri - (4 hs).

Day 6: El Chaltén: Free day

Stop At: Road to El Chalten, El Chalten Argentina
You will have the day off to enjoy the city of trekking. As the name implies, we suggest this unforgettable experience: trekking and a picnic in Laguna de los Tres.

Recommendation: Laguna de los Tres: It is one of the most sought after walks by trekking and climbing lovers. There are 10 km separating the start on the main street San Martin to the final point and a walk from 9 to 10 hours with Mount Fitz Roy and a lake with turquoise waters at your feet. The hanging Piedras Blancas glacier and the Capri Lagoon are two strategic points to contemplate the peace of the place.

Day 7: San Carlos de Bariloche: free day

Stop At: Circuito Chico, San Carlos de Bariloche Argentina
You will have a free day to explore and enjoy the city.

Recommendation: It is a good time to try the famous chocolates of Bariloche, to discover the Circuito Chico, the most traditional route in the city, begins in the center and borders the southern margin of Nahuel Huapi Lake.

Day 8: Exploring the Seven Lakes Road: Welcome to Villa La Angostura

Stop At: 7 lakes road, Ruta Nacional 40, Lago Correntoso, Neuquén, Argentina
The Road of the Seven Lakes is a section of the National Route 40 that connects the towns of Villa La Angostura and San Martin de los Andes, is located on the northwest coast of Lake Nahuel Huapi and brings together the best of nature and Patagonian geography: mountains, lakes, forests of cypresses and myrtles. After 1 hour and 20 minutes you will arrive at Villa La Angostura, a quieter and better preserved mountain town than Bariloche.

Recommendation: Explore Los Arrayanes National Park, which covers the Quetruhué peninsula, on the shores of Lake Nahuel Huapi, and protects a forest of myrtles, which is almost unique in the world.

Day 9: Exploring The Seven Lakes Road: From Villa la Angostura to San Martín de los Andes

Stop At: 7 lakes road, Ruta Nacional 40, Lago Correntoso, Neuquén, Argentina
You will continue crossing the mirrored lakes of different colors along the Road of the Seven Lakes until you reach San Martín de los Andes. This city is located on the shores of Lake Lácar, is known for its landscapes nicknamed "the city of roses" and for its urbanization. You will spend the night in the hotel of San Martin de los Andes.

Recommendation: We suggest you to stop along the way to enjoy the small beaches in the lakes.

Day 10: On the route from San Martín de los Andes to Bariloche

Stop At: Parque Nacional Nahuel Huapi, Río Negro, Argentina
In the morning you will take the Road of the Seven Lakes back to Bariloche.

Free afternoon to explore the city.

Recommendation: Other tours and tours that we suggest are: Circuito Grande (240 km from the city center and runs through the Andean lakes and forests), the Civic Center, Colonia Suiza and Puerto Pañuelo.

Day 11: Flight to Salta, transfer to the hotel, free day and night

In the morning you will drive to the airport of Bariloche and take a flight to Salta. When you arrive in the city, you will book a new rental car to explore the Andean North.

Afternoon and free night to explore the city.

Day 12: On the route from Salta to Cachi

Stop At: Calle Cacique J Calchaqui, Cachi A4417ASA Argentina
You will take the Route 33 towards Cachi. You will pass through the spectacular Valle de Lerma, the Quebrada de Escoipe, and you will discover many views of the Encantado Valley. On the way, you will have the opportunity to tour the Los Cardones National Park and admire the impressive cactus. Finally you will reach Cachi, a small town with a quiet and pleasant environment to walk: the square, the church and the restaurants around.

Day 13: On the route from Cachi to Cafayate

Stop At: La Estancia De Cafayate, Ruta Nacional 40, Km 4340, Cafayate 4427 Argentina
You will follow the route between Cachi and Cafayate and you will enjoy the spectacular landscapes with colorful mountains, hills, meadows and isolated villages. Molinos is one of the most beautiful villages in the Calchaquíes Valleys. Upon arrival, you will discover the city of Cafayate and visit a winery to taste the famous "torrontés" wines, typical of this region.

Day 14: On the return to Salta: Across the Quebrada de las Conchas

Stop At: Quebrada del Rio de las Conchas, Ruta Nacional 68, Cafayate Argentina
Today you will go back to Salta. On the way, you can make many stops to enjoy the views of the incredible Quebrada de Las Conchas and you will appreciate the beauty of these spectacular rock formations carved by erosion and winds, such as the Devil's Throat, El Fraile, The Obelisk and The Castles.

Day 15: Welcome to Jujuy: Quebrada de Humahuaca and Purmamarca

Stop At: Quebrada de Humahuaca, Rio Grande Purmamarca Village, Humahuaca Argentina
You will drive along Route 9 towards the province of Jujuy. You will have the opportunity to go through the beginning of the Quebrada de Humahuaca, and you will arrive at Purmamarca, a traditional village, located at the foot of the famous Cerro de los 7 colores.

Recommendation: In the afternoon, we suggest visiting Salinas Grandes, the famous salt desert located at more than 1,400 meters above sea level.

Day 16: Back to Salta: Purmamarca, Tilcara, Pucará (archaeological site) and Humahuaca

Stop At: Quebrada de Humahuaca, Rio Grande Purmamarca Village, Humahuaca Argentina
In the morning you will discover the Quebrada de Humahuaca and its small villages, this spectacular valley was classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. You will be able to know the colorful markets of each small town, including those of Tilcara and Pucará (archaeological site), and then the town of Humahuaca.

Recommendation: At the end of the afternoon, we recommend going through the magnificent Hornocal viewpoint before returning to Purmamarca.

Day 17: Flight to Puerto Iguazú, transfer to the hotel and free day

Stop At: Puerto Iguazu Argentina
You will return to Salta airport where you will return your rental car and take a flight to Puerto Iguazú. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel.

Afternoon free to enjoy the surroundings of the hotel or tour the city.

Recommendation: In the afternoon, you can visit the animal shelter Güra Oga, located near the hotel, it is a veterinary clinic and rehabilitation center for injured wild animals. We also recommend the point of view "the Argentinean landmark" of the 3 borders between Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay.

Day 18: Iguazú National Park: Touring and sailing the Iguazú Falls (Argentine side)

Stop At: Iguazu Falls, Iguazu National Park 3370 Argentina
You will be transferred in a small group to enter the Iguazú National Park with your guide. After touring the catwalks and taking advantage of each point of view, you will board a boat to sailing at the foot of the falls.

Recommendation: Remember to bring a pilot and clothes to change because you probably do not get out without getting wet from this wonderful experience!

Day 19: Iguazú National Park: Touring the Iguazú Falls (Brazilian side) and Bird Park

Stop At: Iguazu Falls, Foz do Iguacu, State of Parana 85855-750 Brazil
You will visit the Iguazú National Park from the Brazilian side, and you will be able to enjoy an exceptional panoramic view, obtaining a view of almost all the jumps and a great approach to the Garganta del Diablo.
