Today we will go to the North of Armenia, to the monastery of Sagmosavank (Psalm monastery), which according to legend was founded by St. Gregory the Illuminator 17 centuries ago over the picturesque gorge of the Kasakh river. From the very edge of the gorge offers a beautiful and at the same time a little frightening view.

The next stop is the Ohanavank monastery, which rises majestically over a steep cliff. Due to its size and complex architectural fiction, it is a unique historical monument built in the middle ages. The monastery was founded by the first Catholicos of Armenia Gregory the Illuminator, who buried in this place the relics of John (Hovhannes) the Baptist. Hence the name "Hovhannavank monastery". The oldest part of the monastery complex is the Church of St. Karapet. A distinctive feature of Ohanavank is a compact arrangement of structures around the dominant building. The walls of the monastery are decorated with relief ornaments and inscriptions.

Next, we will go to the Alley of Letters - a monument created in 2005 to the 1600th anniversary of the Armenian alphabet. On the slope of mount Aragats we expect 39 carved from tuff letters together with their Creator Mesrop Mashtots.

We will visit the fortress-city Amberd which was built in the historical province of Aragatsotn, on the southern slope of mount Aragats. It was one of the most important military-defensive fortresses of Armenia.
