Stop At: Khor Virap, Artashat, Lusarat Armenia

This fortified monastery is the place of pilgrimage, one of the most worshiped ones in Armenia. The monastery is located in the close proximity to border between Armenia and Turkey on the hill near the village of Poqr Vedi. There is a most beautiful view on the biblical Mount Ararat and entire Ararat Valley from the monastery.

The monastery was erected in 6-17 the centuries above the dungeon where St. Gregory the Illuminator, the Baptist of Armenia, had been kept for disseminating of Christianity until the king of Armenia Tiridates III decided to adopt Christianity as a State religion. The pit dungeon is still there and tourists can descend down there using narrow ladder.

Noravank is one of the most beautiful Armenian monasteries, which was constructed in the 13 the century on the ledge of narrow winding gorge of the river Amaghu. The gorge is famous for its steep red rocks towering behind the monastery. From a distance appears the monastery perched high on the flat surface of a rock, nestled into a majestic mountain. According to legend, Noravank monastery housed a piece of the True Cross stained with Christ's blood.

Tatev Monastery is located in the Southern part of Armenia, on the edge of the giant gorge. The road to the monastery goes through a gorge with very steep slopes. At the bottom of the gorge is rough Vorotan River that goes a few dozen meters into the cliffs. Nature here is mysterious and marvelous. There are rock stairways everywhere, an archway that takes breath away when approached, because the land disappears and an abyss expands underneath, somewhere far deep the river flows and velvet-green tower up crowding each other.

Wings of Tatev is the shortest, most picturesque and impressive route to Tatev Monastery. It is the longest reversible cableway in the world (5752 m) between Halidzor village and Tatev Monastery in the South of Armenia, recorded in the Guinness Book of Records. You will enjoy twelve minutes of unforgettable flight above the ravine of the fierce Vorotan River. The celestial highway is at the altitude of 320 m.
