Being privately owned and operated by a retired prospector, The Miner's Cottage tour is different from other venues in Charters Towers. The tour is a highlight of a visit to this historic gold town. Visitors can hire metal detectors and learn how to use them on the public prospecting area nearby.There is an operating Blacksmith Shop where repairs are carried out on the collection of gold mining relics in the "Shed" next door. Pan for REAL gold under supervision.

Watch a private screening of the 2013 film "Breaker Morant - The Re-trial" which was filmed in Charters Towers - (the owner will probably mention that he has a few "bit" parts in this historical documentary!! Other visual experiences include tours of the city from the air on board a drone (Charters Towers - "Above and Below" being filmed 2019)
