Stop At: Diri Baba Mausoleum, Qobustan Azerbaijan

On the way from Baku to Shamakhi there is Maraza village known for its unique monument - two-storied mausoleum-mosque of the 15th century called Diri-Baba, located across from the old cemetery. For a long time the local residents have kept the legend that there imperishable Saint Diri-Baba had been buried. However, many other legends and mystical details are connected with this landmark. Therefore, since the 17th century it attracts pilgrims and simply curious visitors.

Stop At: Juma Mosque, Nariman Narimanov St., Shamakhi Azerbaijan

This oldest and largest mosque in Azerbaijan, Shamakhi Juma, according to the legend was built in the 8th century when Shamakhi was chosen as residence by an Arabian caliph. The initial Arabian inscription on the portal of the mosque said that the mosque had constructed in 744. Therefore Shamakhi Juma is considered as one of the earliest mosques of Transcaucasia. The composition of Shamakhi Juma has no analogues in Azerbaijan. The architecture of the building is as follows - the huge hall for prayers is divided into three independent sections connected by open wide doorways.

Stop At: Yeddi Gumbaz Mausoleum, DNdN Qorqud St., Shamakhi 5600 Azerbaijan

At the foot of Gulistan Fortress is located Yeddi Gumbez Mausoleum or “Seven Domes”. This is how people named Shamakhi tomb of Shirvan Dynasty rulers. There the notorious representatives of Shirvan Dynasty were buried.

The monument's name is defined be the number of gravestones in the crypt. Today the gravestones look like half-destroyed stone domes as if grown directly from under the ground in the middle of deserted graveyard. Therefore the atmosphere of this district seems a little mysterious.

The Nohur Lake (Nohurgöl) is one of the most picturesque places of Gabala that have magnificent view to Caucasus Mountains and surrounding villages with fresh air and water where you can take a boat and catamaran ride to enjoy the surrounding landscape.

The reason behind building the GSC was to develop a multi-purpose and world-class shooting facility in Azerbaijan that can serve both as a recreational and entertainment center, and as a training place for the national shooting team and international professionals, as well as to promote the shooting as a sport in national level.
