Stop At: Gobustan Rock Art, 60 km South of Baku, Baku Azerbaijan

Gobustan State Reserve located west of the settlement of Gobustan, about 40 miles (64 km) southwest of the centre of Baku was established in 1966 when the region was declared as a national historical landmark of Azerbaijan in an attempt to preserve the ancient carvings, mud volcanoes and gas-stones in the region.
Gobustan State Reserve is very rich in archeological monuments, the reserve has more than 6,000 rock carvings, which depict primitive people, animals, battle-pieces, ritual dances, bullfights, boats with armed oarsmen, warriors with lances in their hands, camel caravans, pictures of sun and stars, on the average dating back to 5,000-20,000 years.

Stop At: Mud Volcanoes, Gobustan National Park, Baku Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan has the most mud volcanoes of any country, spread broadly across the country. 350 of the 800 volcanoes of the world are in the Azerbaijani Republic. Local people call them “yanardagh” (burning mountain), “pilpila” (terrace), “gaynacha” (boiling water) and “bozdag” (grey mountain) alongside its geographical name – mud volcanoes.

Stop At: Ateshgah - Fire Temple, Сураханский район, Baku Azerbaijan

The Baku Ateshgah often called the "Fire Temple of Baku" is a castle-like religious temple in Surakhani district, a suburb in Baku, Azerbaijan. Based on Persian inscriptions, the temple was used as a Hindu, Sikh, and Zoroastrian place of worship.

Stop At: Mardakan Castle, Mardakan AZ1044 Azerbaijan

The quadrangular Mardakan castle was built in the middle of the 12th century by Akhsitan I, son of Manuchihr III. It was erected after a victory of Akhsitan I. The tower was used as a shelter and observation point of feudals.

Stop At: Yanar Dag, Binagadi-Balakhany Highway, Baku 0125 Azerbaijan

Yanar Dag (Azerbaijani: Yanar Dağ, meaning "burning mountain") is a natural gas fire which blazes continuously on a hillside on the Absheron Peninsula on the Caspian Sea near Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan (a country which itself is known as "the Land of Fire").
