Day 12: Odesa - Missile Base - Kyiv

Stop At: Strategic Missile Forces Museum, Pobuz'ke Ukraine
Once you arrive to the museum, your guided tour will start. Explore an indoor exposition of the museum dedicated to nuclear forces of the USSR. Discover an open-air exposition of military equipment on the territory of missile base. Learn about the multilevel protection system of the base that prevented any interference. Moreover, see an inactive missile silo and 30-meter long SS-18 “Satan” missile that is the highlight of the whole exposition.

It addition, you have a unique opportunity to descent down 11-floor deep command center. That was a working place of Soviet officers and a top-secret object. You will even press a famous «red button» and hear the signal of siren. Over 50 years ago, it would have meant launch of nuclear missile. Luckily, none of the missiles was ever launched there and it saved our planet from terrible consequences.

After a 2-hour tour of the museum, we’ll start our way back to Kyiv. There will be some stops at the gas station, where you may have coffee or snack. When you arrive in Kyiv, your driver will drop you off at your hotel.

Day 14: Pirogovo Open-Air Museum

Meet your guide at the reception of your hotel and after 20 minutes of comfortable drive you will forget about the hassle of the city arrive to the unique Open-Air Museum Pirogovo. The territory of the museum is quite big and contains more than 3000 authentic items of folk architecture and household. Your guide will show you the most interesting and picturesque parts of it.

You will explore charming white houses under the thatched roof with beautiful patterns on the walls. It is possible to examine the interior of the houses and discover a lot of traditional domestic items. You will try to guess what did they serve for and your guide will explain you all the details.

There is a marvelous three domed wooden church on the territory of the museum with the iconostasis of the XVIII century. Just a few steps from the church there is a priest house and an old school. You will find a souvenir shop in one of the houses, where you can buy handmade products of the local artisans, including pottery, embroidered shirts etc.

One of the main attractions in Pirogovo is the collection of windmills, situated on the top of a picturesque hill. Once you reach this place, you will admire the astonishing panorama of the whole territory of the museum. It’s a great place to take pictures.

Moreover, there are several restaurants here where you can try some national dishes in your free time (optional). The tour will end with a drop-off to your hotel.
