Guided Walk: from Colonial to EU Power

I tell stories through art and politics, I have a background in both: I make documentaries and I’m a political scientist specialized on European Affairs. Brussels is my home for 12 years,I worked most of it for institutions in the EU quarter. I’ve guided ministers and other VIPs around the neighborhood but prefer to show it to real people.

I always try to find unique ways of putting pieces together. With the personal anecdotes it is fun helping visitors peek behind the scenes;)

I want all to feel what’s going on in this city through revealing its secrets and examining the historical facts in detail.

Stop At: Parc de Bruxelles (Warandepark), Warandepark, Brussels 1000 Belgium

The tour’s 16 stops will broadly follow the axis of rue de la Loi. It will bring us from the historic Park of Brussels. There we will see Federal Parliaments, Senate and Royal Offices. We will take a look at the Belgian Interior political system.

Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: EU Quarter (Quartier des Institutions Europeennes), EU Quarter, Brussels Belgium

We will walk around the European Quarters and other places of power. I will help you feel the historic and geographic connections between the earlier Belgian colonial city and today’s EU institutions. We will be mindful of what architecture, statues and public spaces say about influence. I will tell the story of what EU buildings represent politically and how the work there impacts all Europeans. We will also look at the lifestyle of the eurocrats working there.

Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: European Parliament (Hemicycle visits), Rue Wiertz 60 Paul-Henri Spaak Building, Brussels 1050 Belgium

Note that: we will not enter any EU building: access constraints (badge, wait, advance notice, etc) would distract us from the general story of the tour. However I will give you tips if you are interested to visit the Parliament afterwards by yourself.
