Cahal Pech "PLACE OF TICKS" appropriately named as the surrounding area was once used as pasture land and was the royal acropolis-palace of an elite Mayan ruling family who lived here during the Classic period. The site consists of seven plazas and over 30 structures including temples, residential buildings, ball courts, an altar, and a sweat-house, all situated on just 2 acres.

This adventures takes us to the Cayo District approx 2 hours drive from Belize City. Visiting the sites of Xunantunich and Cahal Pech would give you a great feel of the county and a taste of authentic Belizean cuisine as they are located in the Cayo District in the west of the country and are a few miles apart.  Your guide will greet and escort you to our air conditioned vehicle for the informative 2 hour drive.   

Cahal Pech boast a royal burial chamber that was found in one of the structures. Inside the tomb a ruler had been laid to rest with the accouterments necessary for the afterlife. Included in the find were shell & bone ornaments, pottery vessels, obsidian blades, and jade objects, the most impressive being a jade & shell mosaic mask and the list goes on, therefore come and experience the Mayan adventure for yourself. To make the tour even more interesting, the visitor center and museum has a model of the site, excellent paintings showing Cahal Pech in its prime along with an interpretive film.
