Bhutan Cultural Tour with Day Hikes

This tour combines cultural highlights with some of the good day hikes in Bhutan. Exploring on foot is more magical than skimming over the places from your car. As you walk through the villages, villagers will invite you to their homes for a tea or hearty conversation.

Day 1: Arrive Paro

After arrival visit: 
• Ta Dzong (National Museum) 
• Rinpung Dzong 
• Kyichu Lhakhang 
• Evening is free to stroll in Paro Town. Walking through the market and meeting with the people will be an enjoyable experience.

Day 2: Paro-Haa Valley | Hike to Chele La Pass

Today, drive to Haa Valley across Chelela Pass (3810m). Few miles before Chele La Pass, you will take a side road that takes you to Kila Goenpa Nunnery, which is nestled in a craggy patch on the mountain site. From here, you will hike to Chele La Pass. Enjoy a picnic lunch at the pass and continue drive to Haa. 

Day 3: Haa-Thimphu (115 Km/4 hours)

Following breakfast, drive to Thimphu, capital city of Bhutan. En route, stop at Chuzom to see local farmers sit by the side of the road selling vegetables. Check into your hotel on arrival. Afternoon, you can stroll freely in Thimphu city.

Day 4: Morning Tango Monastery hike | afternoon sightseeing

In the morning, hike to Tango Monastery. In the afternoon, visit King's Memorial Chorten, Takin Reserve, Folk Heritage Museum, the giant Buddha Statue and Tashichhodzong.

Day 5: Thimphu-Punakha | hike to Lungchutse Goempa

After breakfast, enjoy the scenic drive to Punakha with a stop for tea at the Dochu La pass (10,170 feet), where on a clear day you can get spectacular views of the Himalayas. From the pass, you will hike to Lungchuzekha Monastery through rhododendron forests. Hike offers us stunning views of Himalayas. Hike back to Dochula pass, enjoy your lunch and then drive downhill to Punakha. On arrival, visit the Punakha Dzong. 

Day 6: Punakha-Gangtey/Phobjikha Valley | hike through Nature Trail

Morning drive to Gangtey through dense forests of oak trees and rhododendrons. On arrival in Gangtey, visit Gangtey Goenpa, the only Nyingmapa monastery in western Bhutan. From here, you will hike to Phobjikha Valley through Gangtey Nature Trail. Today you will stay in local farmhouse to get first hand experience of Bhutanese farmers’ life.

Day 7: Gangtey-Paro

Morning, drive back to Paro. En route, stop at Metshina Village and take 20-minute walk through rice fields to Chimi Lhakhang, the Divine Madman’s temple. After this, continue drive to Paro with stop in Thimphu for lunch.

Day 8: Hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery

Today hike to Taktsang (Tiger's Nest) Monastery, which is Bhutan's most famous monastery. Overnight in hotel.

Day 9: Depart Paro

After breakfast, you will drive to airport for departure.  Our representative will bid you farewell.
