 In the middle of 1812, the construction of the present Mother Church began, in the same place of the primitive Chapel. In 1849, in a procession, the image of Our Lady of Oporto, the patroness of the village, fell from the street and fell to pieces. In the same year, an image was commissioned from Bahia, sculpted in jacaranda, with plaster coating. It has in its interior the beautiful Via Sacra, painted in oil, by the renowned artist Morretense Theodoro De Bona, and, in front of the Church, a bell is installed, coming from Portugal, with the Coat of Arms of the Empire, founded in 1854. of a cross dating to the turn of the century, and a clock in its tower that has run since its foundation.
