Located in the Itaipu complex, 17 km from the city center. It has an air-conditioned infrastructure with bathrooms, a souvenir shop and a snack bar.

When entering the local one can perceive an environment of research, education and tourism, with explanatory pictures, miniatures of ships and space probes besides prototypes of planets and simulators of the solar system.

The most interesting part of the tour is the planetary observatory, which has a dome over 6 meters in diameter, from where you can observe stars, planets, and star constellations. The telescope is just over 1 year old and one of the best resolutions allowing an incredible experience to the visitor.

The Bela Vista Biological Refuge was created on June 27, 1984 and has more than 1,910 hectares. This grandiose space was built to preserve the fauna and flora of the region, during the construction of the reservoir of the Itaipu Binational Plant.

The walk through the protection unit goes around the Piracema Canal until reaching the buildings of the refuge. In all are two miles of hiking on a trail in the middle of the native forest, accompanied by much learning about the environment. The space has around 50 animal species and more than 960 plant genera.

Full of environmental preservation, the place provides visitors with a lot of ecological education, as it always prioritizes natural forms that do not affect the environment or animals. It is advisable to wear comfortable clothes, sneakers and repellent.
