Mastodons' lost world - Private Day Tour

Five million years old subtropic forest in which a 4-meter tall mastodon is walking around, screams of prehistoric monkeys, trumpets of mastodons and stamping of three finger horses are being heard in the air… This is not a scene from a dinosaur movie, but the place which we’ll visit.

We’ll immerse in the picturesque world of the Pliocene era in the paleontological formation found in Dorkovo village.

This is the biggest on the Balkans and second biggest in Europe exposition of bones - about 30 species of animals from that age.

We’ll carry on to later ages at a beautiful place with an ancient fort. There, stepping on the fort walls we’ll learn how the Bulgarian rulers were governing those lands and how the normal ordinary people used to live.

We’ll have lunch along the coast of a Rhodope dam and then we’ll visit one of the most beautiful Bulgarian caves which were populated by Thracians many centuries ago.

Pass By: Sofia History Museum, pl.Banski 1, Sofia 1000 Bulgaria

The tour starts at 09:00 am when our tripvam representative will pick you up from your hotel.

We leave for Dorkovo village which is 2 hours drive from Sofia.

There we’ll:

Explore Dorkovo village

Visit the Pliocene Museum

Short hike to the Cepina fortress and get to know the history and beauty of that place

Then we leave for Batak dam – an incredibly beautiful place where we’ll enjoy delicious food and amazing views along the banks of the dam.

Energized and ready for our next adventure we’ll visit Snezanka cave – we’ll hike for about 40 minutes and explore one of the most beautiful caves in Bulgaria which is famously called “Rhodope’s pearl”
