Vitosha is the most visited and the 4rth biggest mountain in Bulgaria. It’s situated just next to Sofia. This is the only dome-shaped mountain in the country and the place where Bulgarian mountaineering was established. According to a local legend, Vitosha was an active volcano millions of years ago.

In order to learn more about the history of this gorgeous mountain and to enjoy its beauty, we’ll embark on a hiking trip to its highest peak - Cherni vrah (Black peak). This is one of Bulgaria’s windiest peaks and when the weather is clear we can see from there the mountains Rila, Stara Planina, Sredna Gora, Verila and Plana.

This tour is suitable for beginners and medium-advanced hikers.

Pass By: Sofia History Museum, pl.Banski 1, Sofia 1000 Bulgaria

Often one route can be suitable at the same time for beginners and advanced hikers. This depends on the present conditions in the mountain.

Our adventure starts at 8:00 am when we’ll pick you up from the place you’re staying at.

We depart for Golden Bridges area where we’ll start our hike to Cherni Vrah peak. During our hike, we’ll enjoy some of the most beautiful views which Vitosha mountain can offer and we’ll pass by a few huts where we can have a cup of mountain herbal tea, coffee or eat some lunch. If you are bringing your own food we can have a picnic at some cool spot.

Kamen Del peak (1862m above sea level) offers the best view towards Sofia city

Golden Bridges area – the longest stone river in Vitosha mountain

Cherni Vrah peak (2292m asl) – Vitosha’s highest peak with some wonderful views toward all directions – east, west, south, and north.

Expected arrival time back in Sofia – 5:00 pm
