Traditional Khmer Incense Workshop and Blessing

Incense is a important part of Khmer religious and cultural life. Our tour gives guests a unique opportunity to connect to the source of this tradition - a tradition that was nearly lost during the Khmer Rouge. While many in modern society now purchase cheap, imported incense, the art form is still practiced by some elderly individuals. Participating in this tour calls attention to it and encourages the younger generation to take pride in this centuries old practice.

Itinerary

Our tour travels to a rural village just outside Angkor where we will meet our host. Together we will learn about the ingredients used to make incense, mix and mash the ingredients until we have a proper base, and then roll our own incense. After the incense dries, we will take our respective bundles and visit a rural pagoda. Incense will be offered to the monks and in return we will receive a traditional Khmer water blessing. From there we return to Siem Reap. You will have additional incense as your souvenir which can be brought home.
