Visit Local Family in Countryside Half-Day with Food Tasting
Despite being Cambodias second-largest city, Battambang is often overlooked by those on the tourist trail who opt for the more popular Siem Reap and Phnom Penh cities. Quieter and less visited, Battambang has a less commercialized feel and provides an opportunity to see a more traditional Cambodian city. Today, you and our guide will escape from town to the countryside to see a market full of fresh vegetables and fish from the river and the lake. We will visit the rice wine maker and have a small taste of it, see a very old historic pagoda, the Killing Field, the big Buddha and the angkorian Ek Phnom Temple from the 11th century.
Just outside of Battambang city, sitting snug between the rolling patchwork quilts of rice fields, are tiny of rickety traditional stilted house, where enormous pigs languidly loll by the road and buffalo snooze beside curvaceous hay bales. And bike ride will bring you to see local ladies making rice paper discs (used to wrap spring rolls) and to Somrong Knong to sample authentic Kralan (sticky rice, black bean, coconut milk and small salt in bamboo tube over charcoal) from the road side. We ride the back to the town around 12:00 pm. We provide you a local guide, mountain bike, water, snack, bamboo sticky rice along the way on tour.
