Eisenhower Tower

The ascent is more about a big day in the mountains than it is about hard technical difficulty. Graded 5.3, there are a few cruxes that come on the upper tier of the peak above the Goat Plateau that give the bulk of the difficulty. The peak is approached from Castle Junction on HWY 1A, along the trail to Rockbound Lake. The ascent of the peak is natually divided into 2 tiers the lower tier which is entirely 4th class and the upper tier which involves more technical climbing. We often climb via a feature known as the Dragons Back to access the base of the Tower proper. From here a series of long pitches interspersed with short-roped terrain give us access to one of the most asthetic summits in the whole of the Bow Valley. High fives and a few summit photos and we'll reverse the route and descend back down to the valley bottom.

Itinerary

A guided ascent of the Eisenhower Tower on Castle Mountain, for most, is a full day climbing in technically moderate terrain. Our guests should expect average ascent times between 8 and 12 hours depending on fitness. A good level of endurance will no doubt boost your enjoyment of the day.
