Gatineau Park Hike + Cheese Fondue Dinner in Log Cabin
No one else in Ottawa offers this. I've lived in the National Capital Region more than 30 years and have been to most local attractions, and have lived near and next to Gatineau park most of my adult life. I've biked and hiked in the park a long time. I love nature and hikes in Gatineau park, and have a passion for knowing and sharing information about trees in the Park, and for discovering and sharing little gems within the park that many people, even locals , don't know about. Plus, being a french foodie and knowing Ottawa winters, I love great cheese fondue, and can prepare it well over a wood stove.
Itinerary
Experience the charm of Gatineau Park with a hike to a log cabin and a cheese fondue dinner warmed on a wood burning stove. Well meet on chemin Cross Loop, parking P15, where youll be able to park your vehicle. From there, we'll hike into Gatineau Park along a well-groomed trail #70, a 7+ km hike (one way) with a fair bit of an incline (but don't worry - the return is 7+ km downhill), until we reach the Healey Shelter - a log cabin that has a constantly burning firewood stove. Once in the cabin, we'll share hot chocolate, and warm a deliciously prepared cheese fondue over the wood stove, we'll eat the fondue with fresh baguette, cut pears, grapes, veggies and hummus, while clothes warm near the stove. All you need to do is enjoy the hike; well carry and prepare everything for you. Once bellies are full, we'll dress and hike back down #70 until we reach P15.
NOTE: this is a 14+ km hike in total. The trail is wide and it and the cabin are very well maintained by the National Capital Commission (NCC). The NCC fee is included in the price for this experience. Also, we'll be happy to carry the dinner essentials during the hike.
