Steveston, which lies at the mouth of the Fraser Rivers south arm, is a historic seaside village in Richmond founded in 1880. It was originally a salmon canning center and the largest producer of canned salmon in British Columbia. Today, it is home to many historic homes, as well as the historic sites of the Britannia Shipyards and the Gulf of Georgia Cannery. This National Historic Site is now a museum, filled with artifacts that commemorate the west coasts fishing industry.
