Just over an hour south of Kelowna, we visit the region with the highest species diversity in Canada Vaseux-Bighorn Area. The Vaseux bird checklist has an astounding 205 bird species. We birdwatch from the Vaseux Lake boardwalk and viewing tower. So dont forget your binoculars and viewing scope.
Red-listed bird species include the American white pelican, Lewis's woodpecker, peregrine falcon, and yellow-breasted chat. We explore some of the 10 red-listed ecological communities for birds and other flora and fauna.
