Cocoa Trail Hike

Explore the nature of the Barahona region on a hike in the mountains of Paraiso, an area known for its high quality cocoa production. The trek begins in the village of Paraiso and starts with a slight climb through the lush tropical forest. Walking on the hillside of the mountains at about 400 meters altitude, one is surrounded by tropical trees with fruits like avocados, oranges, bananas and much more. Taste some fresh cocoa seeds straight from the tree and experience its unique sweet and/or sour flavor. At lunchtime a sandwich prepared by your guides will be served. After on the trek continues downwards. Make a stop at the beautiful river “Nizaito” where you can refresh yourself and have a dip. For about an hour the way leads along the river until reaching the village of Villa Nizao, which is located on the river banks. Not far from there is Paraiso, where the trek ends.
