Coastal Trekking Penguins and Marine Biodiversity

We invite you to know the coast of our Pacific Ocean and its biodiversity. We will begin our adventure from Santiago in the direction of Cachagua, where we will cross a scenic path and contemplate the Penguin Island, a place that houses the Humboldt Penguin and Magellanic Penguin, as well as numerous coastal birds. Through binoculars we can identify them and observe their curious behavior in their natural habitat. At the end we will board the vehicle to move a few kilometers to the south, to the Cliffs of the Quirilluca, where we will explore the sclerophyllous forest, the birds that nest on the cliffs and at the end we will have lunch and cool off at the Quirilluca beach.

 

Itinerary

We invite you to know the coast of our Pacific Ocean and its biodiversity. We will begin our adventure from Santiago in the direction of Cachagua, where we will cross a scenic path and contemplate the Island of the Penguins, place that houses the Humboldt Penguin (Spheniscus humboldti) and Magellanic Penguin (Spheniscus magellanicus), in addition to numerous coastal birds. Through binoculars we can identify them and observe their curious behavior in their natural habitat. At the end we will board the vehicle to move a few kilometers south, to the Cliffs of the Quirilluca, where we will explore the sclerophyllous forest, where we will know a very special tree, the North Belloto (Beilschmiedia miersii), which is very rare and is considered a Natural Monument, we will also observe the birds that nest on the cliffs during spring and summer. At the end we will have lunch and cool off at the Quirilluca beach and then return to Santiago.
