Torres del Paine W Trek - 5 days

During this 5-day tour, we will enjoy one of the most impressive treks in South America and experience the majestic landscapes of the Chilean Patagonia. The 5-day W Trek is a self-guided trail, which is very easy to follow. You will stay in different areas along the famous W route. The tour includes everything you need to enjoy this experience (transfers, accommodation, food, tickets..). You just have to decide if you want to stay in a campsite or a refugio (recommended). The most important areas you will visit during this tour are Base Torres, Los Cuernos, Valle Francés and the Glaciar Grey Viewpoint. In these beautiful places, you will enjoy colossal mountains, deep blue glaciers and forests that are so stunning, they seem to be from a fairytale.

Itinerary

Day 1: Puerto Natales - Torres del Paine

Pass By: Puerto Natales, Natales, Magallanes y Antártica Chilena, Chile
We will head to the local office of our agency to get our entrance tickets and map after arriving in Puerto Natales, w. At 14:30 we then board the bus that brings us to the starting point of our trek: the Torres del Paine National Park.

Stop At: Torres Del Paine National Park, Torres del Paine National Park Chile
The bus ride takes roughly 90 minutes and brings us directly to the so called central sector, where we will have time to settle down, take in a first look of the beautiful vista and strengthen ourselves with a good dinner before our trek starts on the next day.

Day 2: Hike to Mirador Base Torres (Vantage point base)

Stop At: MIrador Las Torres, Torres del Paine National Park Chile
We will get up early and head to the Mirador Base Torres, one of the most popular treks in the Torres del Paine National Park. This path takes us through the Ascencio river valley until we reach a stretch of 3km that will lead us uphill to one of the most stunning viewpoints in Chile: the breath-taking panorama of the lakes and valleys of the Paso de los Vientos (Path of the Winds).
Duration: 4 hours

Stop At: MIrador Las Torres, Torres del Paine National Park Chile
In the afternoon we continue our trek to the Chilean Shelter, where we will pass through the lenga beech forest before arriving at La Morrena. Here, we are going to commence with the hardest stretch of the second day: a rocky path uphill to the Mirador base Torres. The fantastic view from the top, however, will be more than enough to compensate us for the difficult climb. After taking in the majestic panorama of the Andes, we descend back to the central sector, we will have dinner together and rest up for the next day.

Day 3: Hike Frances Sector

Stop At: Torres Del Paine National Park, Torres del Paine National Park Chile
On our third day the W trek will, on a stretch of 13.5km, lead us to some of the most impressive locations in the National Park, like the lake Nordenskjöld, the mountain Almirante Nieto and the Horns of the Paine, a collection of granite spires at an altitude of 2.000m. Here, we can enjoy the impressive views on lakes, glaciers and the diverse flora and fauna of this region. Afterwards, we descend back to the Sector Francés to have dinner together and rest.

Day 4: Hike Frances Valley

Stop At: Torres Del Paine National Park, Torres del Paine National Park Chile
Our journey for today continues along a smooth path to the Italian Camp and the route to the Francés Valley, the name giver for the trek. From here, we will begin our 2km uphill climb to the French River Valley.
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Circuito grande Torres del Paine, Parque Nacional Torres del Paine, Torres del Paine National Park Chile
Along this route, we can enjoy the view on the majestic silhouettes of the mountains that encase the valley like the Paine Grande, Catedral, Hoja, Máscara, Espada, Aleta de Tiburón and the Cuerno Norte. After this impressive sightseeing trek, we descend to the Paine Grande sector, where our stretch for today will end with a well-deserved dinner and a relaxing rest.

Day 5: Hike Grey Glacier - Pehoe Lake navigation - Puerto Natales

Stop At: Glacier Grey, Puerto Natales Chile
The last path of our trek begins at the slopes of the Paine Grande, the highest point of the mountain range at more than 3.000m above the sea level, whose summit will reward us with a breath-taking view of its glaciers. Following the path between the mountains Ñirres, Coigües and Notros, we will arrive at the Lago Grey vantage point, from where we can view the imposing Grey glacier and its broken-away pieces floating on the lake. We then continue along the path to Grey Shelter.

Stop At: Puerto Natales, Natales, Magallanes y Antártica Chilena, Chile
We return to the Paine Grande sector, where we board the catamaran that will bring us to Pudeto in the afternoon. Once we arrive at Pudeto, our bus will be waiting for us to take us back to Puerto Natales, where we will arrive around 9:30 pm.
