One of the most captivating elements of the Yangshuo area, is the countless small town and villages that are spread among the Carste mountains. Each has a unique history and character that can be read in there architecture and layouts. The area is very fortunate to have so many traditional buildings. Some built hundreds of years ago in the Ming & Qing Dynasty’s. Many slowly adapted rebuilt and re-purposed through out there history. Showing layers of history for those willing to look a little closer. We run an excellent 1 day tour that goes out to one of probably the most traditional and ancient towns in the area ; Huangyao.

Itinerary

Stop At: Huangyao Ancient Town, Huangyao Town, Zhaoping County 546805 China

The town is built around a crystal clear river that still supplies the town with its drinking water. And the river side area still holds many of it old traditional charms. Banyan tree’s hundreds of years old hover above the streams. And small stepping stone bridges run from side to side giving passage across the river. The paths are still laid with the original stones, worn down by hundreds of years of life. And many small pathways and roads intertwine the old buildings, leading to hidden courtyards and small private gardens.

There are also many small home stay style hotels which offer a great feel for those wishing to extend there stay. Enjoying a night strolling the old streets and enjoying the serenity of the town

We will collect you by private car from your hotel and drive out to the town which takes around 2 hours. Once there we will guide you round the winding streets explaining the history of the town. As well as showing you some of the more hidden areas and helping you discover some of the local treats. After a good day exploring the town we will drive you back to your hotel.
