Angling Town also translated as Fishing Town, is a prominent historical relic over 1000 year old in northern Chongqing City.

In 1259 AD massive Mongolian troups under Emperor Mongu's command were pressing on Sichuan in souther China. Angling Town was the very first frontier and defence line outside Chongqing. Then a massive battle inevitably happened.

Weird thing occured, the invincible Mongolian army which appalled various enemies and conqured almost half globe was unprecedentedly stopped in this small town. On June, emperor Mongu was accidently killed by a crossbow while he was commanding his soldiers somewhere very close to the town. This battle incredibly lasted over 36 years, it slowed down and ultimately forced Mongolians to withdraw their army from Europ. That made this town called "where God broke his whip".

Beibei is a small town on our way to ancient Angling town, we stop here for our lunch which is included in our tour. We'll try a special local flavor-toufu with rice and spicy sauce, a real local everyday meal, lunch is on us.

On arrival of our destnation-the ancient Angling Town, also translated as Fishing Town, we might choose to take an interior gulf car or to hike all the way to the top of a hill where this ancient town located. Hiking takes roughly 50 min one way. There are multiple historic relics inside the town including former gunpowder manufacturing site, former soldiers camp, crossbow site where ancient Mongolian emperor was killed and ancient stone carvings all over the place. This ancient town is also a nice place to enjoy cute farmland and Jialing River view.The excursion takes approximately 1.5 hours.
