The west of Sichuan, generally refers to the Ganzi Tibetan and Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefectures in Sichuan province with an altitude of 4000M to 4500M.

Located in the southeastern edge of the renowned Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau, the area is featured by its diverse landforms and changeable climate. The special geographical location has endowed it with the numerous snow mountains and glaciers.

As the home to the distinctive ancient Ba-Shu civilization, the western Sichuan is also a cradle to the mysterious culture of the ethnic minorities such as Tibetan, Qiang and Yi nationalities.

The beauty of the scenery of the western Sichuan is far beyond words! It is a collection of vast grasslands, primitive virgin forests, spectacular glaciers, waterfalls, snow-capped peaks, verdant vegetations and peculiar Tibetan and Qiang villages.

Itinerary

Day 1: Chengdu to Moxi Town

Stop At: Moxi Ancient Town, South of Luding County, Luding County China
Today, you will picked up and trasnfer by private vehicle to Moxi town, approx. 4 hours.
On the way, we will visit LudingBridge, which is a suspension bridge over the Dadu River in Luding County, Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan province.
The bridge dates back from the Qing Dynasty and is considered as a historical landmark.in 1935,during the Long March, the soldiers of the Fourth Regiment of the Chinese Workers and Peasants’Army secured the bridge as a river crossing vital to the Red Army which turned it into a significant historical monument for The Communist Party of China.

Day 2: Hailuogou Scenic Area

Stop At: Hailuogou, Gucheng, Lijiang, China
Located in the southeastern Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan province and the eastern rim of Mountain Gongga, Hailuogou Valley is a globally rare modern glacial field at low altitude with the lowest point of only 2850m above sea level.
The name of Mt.Gongga, means the utterly holy and pure mountain in the dialect of the Tibetan language. As a saintly Tibetan Buddhist Mountain, Mt.Gongga has long been a final home to return to of the religious conviction for those pilgrims more than a challenging mountaineering destination.
Withasummit elevation of 7556m above sea level,Mt.Gongga is the highest of Mt.Hengduan Range,hence its reputation as “King of Mountains in Sichuan”.
Hailuogou scenic area is a national Geopark which can even match the Canada National Glacier Park.The glaciers here boast three imposing sights: Great Glacier Waterfall which is 1080M high,500M-1100M wide, Glacier Arch and Glacier City Gate.
What is most incredible is the coexistence of the dazzling glaciers and hot springs in the same range. The mineral water is over 80℃ in temperature and free of harmful elements, safe and suitable for medical treatment.
Furthermore, the Valley is popular for the enchanting landscapes and abundant fauna and flora resources.
Due to its special landform, Hailuogou Valley is characterized by a unique climatic and ecological environment. The foot of mountain is of a pleasant annual temperature around 15℃while on the top, it is perennially capped with snow by9℃ below zero.
The climate in the scenic area is featured “four seasons in one valley, different weather over five kilometers”. with a temperate annual temperate, Hailuogou Valley is a wonderful site for sightseeing, vocation, convalescing, adventure and scientific exploration.
