The Beijing Botanical Garden covers 400 hectares. It has cultivated more than 10,000 species (including varieties) of more than 1.5 million plants of various types.

The tropical plant exhibition greenhouse is the highlight of the botanical garden which respectively shows the typical plant landscape under different climate conditions.

Beijing Botanical Garden is located at the foot of Xiangshan Mountain in the west of Beijing, 23 kilometers from the city center. The Beijing Botanical Garden is composed of a botanical exhibition area, a cultural landscape of historical sites, a nature reserve and a research area.

The plant exhibition area includes an ornamental plant area (special garden), arboretum, bonsai garden, and greenhouse flower area.

The ornamental plant area consists of 11 specialized schools including the Peony Garden, Rose Garden, Peach Garden, Lilac Garden, Begonia Garden, Bonsai Garden, Magnolia Garden, Jixiu Garden (Bamboo Garden), Perennial Flower Garden, Peony Garden and Meiyuan Garden under construction Class garden composition

The arboretum is composed of ginkgo cypress area, maple rose area, lime tree willow area, magnolia barberry area, sycamore oak area, and paulownia ash area.
