The Longmen grottoes were built at around the year 493 when Emperor Xiaowen of the Northern Wei Dynasty moved the capital to Luoyang and were continuously built for 400 years until the Northern Song Dynasty. In November 2000, it was listed as World Culture Heritage by UNESCO. There are 2345 grottoes, 2800 tablets, 70 pagodas and over 100000 statues carved, then you will visit Xiangshan temple which is in front of Longmen grottoes, it was built in 516 AD our femeal emperor used to pay in this temple and the famous Poet Baijuyi used to donate this temple who wrote many famous poem in China. Many Locals also come here to pray for good luck to their family.
