Get into the nature and history to know the most typical food of Antioquia.

The tradition of corn and its presence in our territory goes back to the prehispanic periods. The tribes and civilizations that inhabited these lands saw it as their great source of food, they were even venerated as a god. Antioquia and especially the southwest region are not away. Only 45 minutes away from Medellin city we will find the municipality of Amagá. This place was highly appreciated because it was an strategic point to conect the city with the Cauca river. Several farmhouses were built around the viaduct, some of them selling traditional products.

Be ready for this fascinating day. Your guide will meet you at your accommodation at 09:00 am and then take the way to Amagá.

This tour will start by visiting a traditional “arepas” (Flat corn cake) factory. This product is always in the "Paisas"tablee ven for dinner. Make this tour encloses all the magic of typical homes: grinding, arming and heating. With this experience we will have a first approach to corn. We continue and cross the viaduct, a bridge that still preserves the history of what was the railway. Several tunnels we will find on our way to reach another of our traditional points. The aborrajado is a very typical product of Valle Del Cauca and it arrived to Amaga traveling in train. From the hands of his owner, we taste this aborrajado, very particular and with an incredible flavor. Finally, a drink with cooked corn, very refreshing and accompanied by dulce de leche (Colombian candy) will make our journey a fascinating one through tradition.
