This tour is to show innovation under a social function. Medellin has long suffered from a bad reputation due, especially extinct drug cartels but the city has changed and is generating a new mentality in people. In this tour we will visit one of the most unsafe neighborhoods that there was in Colombia  on the 80’s and 90’s that has got an awesome transformation. Today it’s a secure place to walk by and value the colorful graffiti which represent a new era for the community. “Discover the great stories behind them”.

4-hour Private tour visiting; Museo Casa de la Memoria, Metro Cable line J, and meeting a local guide at comuna 13- Escalator, Hip Hop House, Parque biblioteca San Javier.

You will be picked up at your hotel or hostel at either 9am or 2pm by our guide.

Comuna 13 is one of the districts in Medellin that has suffered the horror of war, it was one of the most dangerous places in the city but nowadays this place is an example for the world in social transformation. The community has a new and different thinking and is introducing Hip Hop & grafiitis culture in their daily living.

The tour begins with a little awareness that takes place in the park of San Antonio, break point to be aware of the change that occurred in the city of Medellin. Then we depart for the commune 13 to meet a local artist guide. Once in the Comuna 13 we take the cable car, up there we can get a glimpse of the initiative of the Government titled “Techo una historia” roofs and houses painted with huge graffiti. Back to station and walk to Casa Kolacho (Hip Hop House), where childs and kids from Comuna could learn breakdance, graffiti, Dj and rap (like an MC) all for free and around Hip Hop Culture.

Keeping the tour, we will go to La Paz park in San Javier. Walk to Salado and 20 Julio neightborhood ans visit Escalators - one of the biggest projects in the city. We will walk the streets with guide explanation of what happened there, how the war recrudesce this place than the others in the city.

The tour support artistic initiatives promoted by the group “Casa Kolacho” where children are taught singing and rap, breakdance and graffiti.
