This is an experience where you have the opportunity to become deeply familiar with the traditions and customs of mountain families.

Itinerary

Day 1: Main sector of Los Nevados Park - Argentina

Stop At: Valle del Cocora, Salento Colombia
Salento - Cocora Valley (2,400 masl) - Finca La Argentina (3,450 masl)

We will take a Jeep Willys in Salento at 7:00 am towards the Cocora Valley. This trail allows us to cross the incredible landscape of Las Palmas de Cera in the high Andean forest. The height and difficulty of the terrain will lead us to connect little by little with our rhythm and with the best kept thoughts while we recognize the depth of our breathing, we will pause to have a marching lunch over 3,000 mtrs. We follow an ascent in which we already begin to understand our body and its way of mimicking the difficulties of mud, wind and cold, the landscape begins to stabilize in our memory and we become one with our footprints. Around 5:00 pm we will arrive at “La Argentina”, farm of farmers who have been in the area for more than 30 years, we will sleep in bed, in shared rooms. Optional additional trek: After a typical picnic lunch, the group of walkers prepares to visit the moorland forest. Starting from "La Argentina", until you reach a beautiful place called "Buenos Aires" at an altitude of 3,750 meters high approaching the Los Nevados National Natural Park. From "Buenos Aires" you start up and down the hill to cross the Cárdenas river canyon of the misty mountains of the moorland ecosystem. Later, a rest to rest at 4,200 meters after a long walk and enjoy the view of "Paramillo del Quindío, 4,750 meters of maximum height" and "Nevado del Tolima peak 5,210 m". After enjoying the view the group begins to descend to Finca La Argentina where you will spend the night and share with the mountain family.

Day 2: Descending Cocora Valley - Circuit.

Stop At: Valle del Cocora, Salento Colombia
After breakfast, we will start again through the valley slowly descending until finally reaching the Cocora Valley. Here we walk mainly down through another side of the valley, and it will be a different part of the trail than the one we did on the first day of our tour. This hike is usually quite muddy and slippery, so we take our time. In “Santa Lucía”, the group will take an uphill walk to reach the “La Montaña Reserve”, with the proportion of the trek in the typical wax palm trees of the region. Then our transport awaits us to take us back to Salento around 4 - 5pm. We will end our adventure in a nice restaurant in Salento with a delicious lunch.
