Itinerary

Day 1: Cabo de La Vela

Stop At: Cabo de la Vela, Cabo de La Vela Colombia
Your trip starts at 05:00 am in the Riohacha hostel, from there you will leave in a 4x4 car heading to Uribía, you will have breakfast and then you will continue your trip to Las Salinas de Manaure, our guide will tell you about the process of salt and The implications of this economic activity for the development of La Guajira, will be the first look at the reality of this ancestral territory, then you will continue your journey to the ranch of Idelsa, Wayuú woman we met in the ponds many years ago and with whom we started the Wualapuinje enterprise, there she and her family teach us their traditional dance La Yonna, they give us the tasting of the typical dish and we will have the chance to share a moment with El Palabrero, the most important authority of each Wayuú clan. We will continue the trip for two hours to Cabo de La Vela, we will arrive at one of the best ranches where we will have lunch and then we will visit the Ojo de Agua Beach, Rainbow Beach, we will climb the Pilón de Azúcar and we will see the sunset from El Faro, at the end the afternoon we will have time to rest in cabins with private bathroom

Day 2: Serranía de La Macuira - Nazareth

Stop At: Punta Gallinas, Carrera 5 3a 02, Uribia Colombia
Around 6:00 am we will continue our trip to the most important spot of this trip, La Macuira, a National Park nestled between the rustic vegetation of the dry forest, is the perfect contrast after having traveled for 5 hours the arid desert. First we will arrive to Nazareth where we will have lunch, there we will know some of the history told by the community, we will visit the Wayuú weaving shop, we will walk to the highest point where we will have the panoramic view of La Serranía before stepping on its land full of stories and legends told by a local Wayuú guide, we will walk for 2 to 4 hours and we will know the dunes of Aleiwolu, we will have time to take pictures and let ourselves be embraced by this landscape of fine sand surrounded by thick vegetation, surely when you arrive, you will also wonder how there will be come so much sand to that space. We will spend the night in one of the best hotels of your entire trip, in cabins with private bathrooms.

Day 3: Punta Gallinas and Taroa Dunes

Stop At: Punta Gallinas, Carrera 5 3a 02, Uribia Colombia
After breakfast we will take the route through the arid desert, which after 4 hours will connect us to one of the most famous sites of La Guajira: The Taroa Dunes, upon arrival you can feel the wind get tangled in your tracks to welcome you to the place where your dreams dance to the rhythm of the sea, you will enjoy the landscape, maybe you can take a bath, all at your own pace because we prefer you to contemplate and let yourself fall in love without hurry. Then we will arrive to Punta Gallinas, we will have lunch in the restaurant Alexandra, where we will also spend tonight and we will go to Punta Agujas Beach and El Faro (the northernmost point of South America). In the evening hours we will meet two local projects developed by the Bahía Hondita community, where we will understand the Wayuú cosmogonía much better.

Day 4: Beaches of Mayapo and return to Riohacha

Stop At: Playas de Mayapo, Riohacha Colombia
About 7 am you will leave the inn heading to the beaches of Mayapo, it will be a journey of 5 hours approx. Upon arrival, you will visit María's restaurant, an enterprising, passionate and warrior woman who has taught us the value of perseverance. You will take the lunch prepared by your family with the view of the peaceful beach of Mayapo, maybe you will meet some sportsmen because of the winds of this area, it is one of the favorite beaches near Riohacha to practice Windsurfing. Around 3 or 4pm we will return to Riohacha where your trip will end, you can stay at our Hammocks hostel or we will go directly to the airport.
