Not far from Split,biggest town in Dalmatia, this medieval, massive fortress rises.
Old Illyrian tribes are the first known inhabitants of the area around the fort. Throughout the year many Croatian kings ruled the fort and upgraded it. Until the beginning of the 16th century and the Ottoman Empire, when it came to its final form.
Klis fortress served to defend the border, was alienated and re-captured all through its two-thousand-year-old history.
Such a history left traces, so in the fortress, you can find a large number of weapons, armor and traditional uniforms from earlier times.
