Finding Famagusta: Ghost Town & Wine Tasting (small grp) LCA-LIM-AY/N-PRO

The day will start with two informational spots where we’ll meet locals who will give us interesting accounts of the troubles that sparked the Cyprus divide. You’ll then cross the border into the Turkish-occupied North where we’ll drive alongside the fenced-off ghost town stopping on the way for a closer look into the lost city.

Stop At: Famagusta, Famagusta, Famagusta District

We'll go to the viewpoint where you can look out onto the occupied area before continuing onto the North to walk on the beach where the fenced off area of the ghost town begins. We'll also spend time in the Famagusta district visiting locals who lived through the Cyprus troubles.

Stop At: Ghost Town Famagusta, Famagusta Cyprus

We'll pass by the ghost town and see it from a variety of unique view-points throughout the day - including the beach where the fenced off area begins. We’ll also stop nearby for a traditional coffee (included) with fantastic views of the Ghost Town and a chance to discuss the story of the isla

A visit to the quaint town center of Famagusta is also on the itinerary, with the opportunity to see the St. Nicholas Cathedral that now operates as a mosque, before we head back across the border to enjoy an authentic meze lunch.

Also within the Famagusta district - you'll be taken to a traditional taverna to enjoy an authentic meze lunch – a spread of delicious Cypriot dishes. Lunch is fully included along with bottled water and one local drink (beer, wine, juice, soft drink).

Stop At: Paralimni, Paralimni, Famagusta District

We’ll end the day with an informative wine tasting that will take you through the grapevines of Cyprus. Through this tasting session you'll be introduced to a selection of the family-owned, boutique wineries across Cyprus and discover the indigenous grape varieties of the island. The tasting will include the famous Commandaria which has a history of at least 5500 years and holds two Guinness world records.
