Ecuador is one of the premiere destinations for birding in the world, with more than 1,600 species in the continental area and  38 more in the Galapagos Islands. Ecuador is considered one of the wonders of the natural world with a high percentage of endemism in birds. Enjoy of 2 day tour by visiting the North West of Pichincha which  is inhabited for about 600 species of birds.

Itinerary

Day 1: Mitad del Mundo / Bellavista Cloud Forest

Stop At: Mitad Del Mundo, Avenida Manuel Cordova Galarza KM. 13/5, San Antonio de Pichincha, Quito 170180 Ecuador
La Mitad del Mundo, or the Middle of the Earth, is probably Ecuador’s biggest claim to fame and attracts countless visitors each year. A monument commemorates the first Geodesic Mission of the French Academy of Sciences. This is where Louis Godin, Pierre Bouguer, and Charles Marie de La Condamine first determined the equatorial line in 1736.
Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Bellavista Cloud Forest Reserve, Mindo, Tandayapa Ecuador
The Bellavista Reserve is situated at the southern edge of the Chocó/Andean biodiversity hotspot areas which stretch from south western Colombia to northwestern Ecuador. The existence of the hotspots lead to the Bellavista Reserve being declared part of the Mindo Area of International Importance for Birds, the first area so designated in South America, by Birdlife International in 1997

Day 2: Bellavista Cloud Forest

Stop At: Mindo Nambillo Cloud Forest Reserve, Mindo Ecuador
Mindo, Ecuador is set in a valley surrounded by the Andes Mountains. The rivers and elevation combine to create a lush cloud forest more than 100 square miles in size. The landscape and climate in Mindo are ideal for the more than 450 different types of birds, numerous species of exotic butterflies, and a variety of animals and reptiles who call the cloud forest home.

Day 4: Day 2.- Milpe Reserve / Mindo

Stop At: Milpe Bird Sanctuary, Via Calacali, km 91, San Miguel de los Bancos 170750 Ecuador
This is our Chocó-Andean foothills reserve and official headquarters, located in the Birdlife International defined Important Bird Area Los Bancos-Milpe. Opened in March 2004, Milpe has recently been expanded to 100 hectares (247 acres), now including the adjacent ‘Milpe Gardens’ which has easier access to the Chalhuayacu river valley and makes a great addition to our already ample trail system.
