5-Day tour Quito´s Highlights and Surroundings

This 5-day adventure package allows you to explore a great variety of landscapes as well as natural and cultural highlights, which you will be able to observe on this fully guided tour. From the capital Quito, which was one of the first cities declared a UNESCO World Heritage site, you will go to the impressive volcanoes in the Andes, get to see colourful indigenous markets and admire the flora and fauna hided in the amazing cloud Forest just around the city.

Itinerary

Day 1: Quito City Tour with Teléferico + Mitad del Mundo Complex

Stop At: Quito Old Town, Quito Ecuador
You will explore Quito and visit the Panecillo Hill, Basilica Church, Independence Plaza, the Cathedral, the Government’s Palace and La Ronda Street. You will also visit La Compañía Church (only this entrance fee included), the Sagrario Church, and San Francisco Plaza.
Duration: 3 hours

Stop At: Mitad Del Mundo, Avenida Manuel Cordova Galarza KM. 13/5, San Antonio de Pichincha, Quito 170180 Ecuador
After lunch, you will head to the Middle of the World Monument (Mitad del Mundo) and visit the Intiñan Museum, the Complex and Pululahua Crater.
Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: TeleferiQo, Sendero teleferico, Ecuador
For spectacular views over Quito’s mountainous landscape, hop aboard this sky tram, one of the world's highest aerial lifts, that takes passengers on a 2.5km ride up the flanks of Volcán Pichincha to the top of Cruz Loma. Once you’re at the top (a mere 4100m), you can hike around to take the best photos

Day 2: Otavalo Indigenous Market

Stop At: Otavalo Market, Plaza de los Ponchos, Otavalo 100450 Ecuador
Head to Otavalo market, meet the indigenous people and see their typical, multicolored handcrafts.
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Peguche, Peguche, Otavalo, Imbabura Province
The Peguche waterfall is a beautiful natural sight to behold, a place where the locals come for cleansing rituals and visitors can picnic, with nearby caves and nature walks in the area.
We can visit workshops where they’ll show you their backstrap loom and natural dyes.
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Cuicocha Lake, Laguna Cuicocha Ecuador
Go to Cotacachi, best known for its leather goods. After that, head up to Cuicocha Lagoon (Guinea Pig Lagoon) a beautiful crater lake located right beside Cotacachi mountain. Return to Quito

Day 3: Quilotoa Lagoon / Local People

Stop At: Laguna Quilotoa, Laguna de Quilotoa, 070701 Ecuador
Travel through the Avenue of the Volcanoes and stop at the Quilotoa volcano where you will descend to the Quilotoa Lagoon, located inside the crater or you can just walk around. Visit some indigenous local house from the “Paramos" to observe their clothes and customs and get to see a typical indigenous house made of straw. Then, head to the town of Tigua, famous for its naif paintings. (Note: on Thursdays, Saquisilí Indigenous Market; optional.)

Day 4: Cotopaxi National Park

Stop At: Cotopaxi National Park, Ecuador
Head to Cotopaxi National Park and visit the Interpretation Center and Limpiopungo Lagoon. Then, you will drive up 4,500 meters and walk up to Padre Rivas Refuge (4,830 meters in altitude). You will enjoy a complimentary coca tea and you may try to get to the glacier (5,050 meters high). You will enjoy lunch and stay in Cotopaxi National Park

Stop At: Cotopaxi Volcano, Tanicuchi Ecuador
The Cotopaxi Volcano National Park is located south of Quito, and in it, we can find volcanoes as the Cotopaxi Volcano 5 897 meters. Hike up to the Refuge or you are physically good we will reach the glacier located at 5000 meters.

Day 5: Termas Papallacta Spa

Stop At: Termas de Papallacta, Km. 65 vía Quito - Baeza, Papallacta 150753 Ecuador
After breakfast, you will drive through the valley of Tumbaco and reach Papallacta Hot Springs. You will walk about 1 hour to a private reserve (Cayambe-Coca Reserve) where you can admire the beauty of nature. Then, you will go back to the Hot Springs and enjoy the medicinal benefits that the spring offers. In the afternoon we will enjoy the " Hummingbird Garden" in Guango Lodge
