Half-Day Tour to Tintoreras Islet in Isabela Island - Galapagos

Embark on a short navigation to Las Tintoreras, a chain of small islets located in the south of Puerto Villamil, Isabela. The Tintoreras bay is connected by a superficial crack with crystalline water which is closed off during low tide where it is possible to observe the iconic white-tipped sharks (Tintoreras) swimming, as well as resting tropical fish and sea lions. This area also comprises one of the most amazing snorkeling sites in Isabela. Catch sight of penguins playing and nesting depending of the time of the year. Blue footed boobies, marine iguanas and sea lions also inhabit this spot.

Pass By: Isabela Island, Galapagos, 010850 Ecuador

Be ready at the meeting point at the designated departure time (informed upon trip confirmation). The meeting point will be Hotel San Vicente, located at a central point in Puerto Villamil. Be there 15 minutes prior to departure to have enough time to try on your snorkeling equipment (mask, tube and fins). Afterward, we will make our way to the dock of Puerto Villamil in order to embark on small speedboats (12 passenger capacity) towards Tintoreras. After a short ride (approx. 15 min.), arrive at Tintoreras Islet. The name of the islet derives from the sharks that inhabit in the waters surrounding the islet, the famous white-tipped fins Tintorera Sharks. The islet is one of the most fascinating places on Isabela Island.

Galapagos sea lions, marine iguanas, blue-footed boobies, Sally Lightfoot Crabs, sea turtles, pelicans, and Galapagos Penguins can all be found in this site. It is also one of main breeding sites for marine iguanas, and a great spot to get a close-up with them. After a hike around the islet, get back on the boat and cool off by snorkeling in the waters nearby. Swimming next to multicolor fish, starfish, sea urchins, and with luck stingrays, sharks, and sea lions is a major highlight in this excursion. Return to the dock.

IMPORTANT NOTE: In order to fulfill this tour, you must be at Isabela Island (Puerto Villamil) one day prior to departure.
