Ingapirca, "Wall of the Inca", is the largest, most important and best preserved pre-Columbian archaeological site in Ecuador, with impressive highlights such as The Temple of the Sun - the only elliptical Inca temple in the whole of South America and was once used for ritual and astronomical purposes.

Ingapirca, "Wall of the Inca", is the largest, most important and best preserved pre-Columbian archaeological site in Ecuador, featuring ancient Incan masonry. The Temple of the Sun, the most prominent building that remains, is the only elliptical Inca temple in the whole of South America and was once used for ritual and astronomical purposes. Just outside the ruins, the Museo Sitio de Ingapirca displays a skeleton, tools and other artifacts recovered from the area.
