The Roman Amphitheatre was discovered in the excavations doing for the site of Paneion or "Park of Pan" in Kom el-Dikkah also known by the name of Hill of Rubble. In the layers of the above the roman street two other archaeological sites were found. These were a Muslim Cemetery and slums.

Dating back from the 2nd century A.D, this Roman theatre had a large auditorium, which measures 42m in diameter. The outer face of the theatre's building was probably adorned with columns located in several storeys.

However during later times the theatre was rebuilt and the massive auditorium was diminished to 33.5 m in diameter. It then counted 16 rows of marble seats.

Day 6: Nile Cruise - Discover the Treasures of Luxor -Valley of the Kings & Temples

The Valley of Kings is the ancient burial ground of many of Egypt’s New Kingdom Pharaohs

A truly impressive site! There, you will find Tutankhamen’s tomb which was discovered almost intact in 1922 and the tomb of Ramses IV, among others. A ticket will allow you visiting 3 of the 63 tombs on site, except Tutankhamen’s tomb.

The tombs have suffered greatly from treasure hunters, floods in the past and in recent years, from mass tourism: carbon dioxide, friction and humidity taking photos with flash inside the tombs produced by the average of 2.8g of sweat left by each visitor have affected the reliefs and the pigments of the wall paintings. The ministry of Antiquities has installed dehumidifiers and glass screens in the worst-affected tombs and introduced a rotation system for opening tombs to the public while restoring others.

In Luxor all that remains of it glorious past is the temple that the ancient Egyptians built to the glory of God Amun-Ra the temple is 260 Meters long mainly built by 2 pharaohs the first was Amon-Ofis III and the second was Ramses IIt and the temple was joined to the Karnak temple a long stone-paved dromos.
