We will show you the famous Temple of Luxor, a temple in honour of the god Amun, which was mostly built by Amenophis III during the New Kingdom and is also called the southern harem of Amun of Karnak.

The Karnak Temples are the largest temple complex of Egypt and are located in Karnak, a village about 2.5 kilometres north of Luxor and directly on the eastern bank of the Nile. The oldest remains of the temple still visible today date back to the 12th dynasty under Sesostris I. The temple complex was extended and rebuilt again and again until the Roman Empire.

Stop At: Colossi of Memnon, Thebes, Luxor Egypt

You can also admire the Memnon Colossi, two ancient Egyptian colossal statues from the 14th century BC standing side by side. They are also located in the Nile Valley not far from the Valley of the Kings in Thebes West. In the past, the statues were located in front of the pylons of the entrance to the temple of Amenophis III, a pharaoh of the 18th dynasty.

The Death Temple of Hatshepsut is the best preserved temple in Deir el-Bahari on the western bank of the Nile in Thebes. Its unconventional architecture is striking. The pylons are replaced by open pillar halls at the beginning of each terrace. The entire temple is built of limestone.

Stop At: Valley of the Kings, Luxor City, Luxor 85511 Egypt

With us you can also visit the Valley of the Kings. It is located near the ancient Egyptian Thebes, today about 5 km northwest of the center of the Upper Egyptian city Luxor and was a burial place in ancient Egypt, where 64 graves and pits were found until today.

In the Valley of the Kings the graves of the rulers of the New Kingdom (ca. 1550 to 1069 BC, 18 to 20 dynasty) can be found. Among other things, the largely intact tomb of Tutankhamun was discovered here by Howard Carter in 1922. Tutankhamun (also Tutenchamun, originally Tutanchaton) was an ancient Egyptian pharaoh, who ruled from 1332 to 1323 BC.

On request we can also show you the Death Temple of Sethos I. It is located in Abydos near Sohag on the western bank of the Nile 160 kilometres north of Luxor. Abydos was one of the most important religious centres of ancient Egypt through the worship of the god Osiris.

Sethos I. (* around 1323 BC; † 1279 BC) was the son and co-regent of Ramses I and father of Ramses II, whom he himself made his co-regent at the age of fifteen.
