Albi A Jewel of Tarn Walking Tour

Due to its exceptional beauty and unique architectural heritage, Albi was recently inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list. In this charming city perched on the high banks of the Tarn River, the past and the present coexist in perfect harmony. Walking in its narrow streets early in the morning or late at night is a fascinating aesthetic and emotional experience. St. Cecile Cathedral whose sombre silhouette dominates the skyline takes us back to the epoch that witnessed the Albigensian Crusade and the destruction of the flourishing culture of Languedoc.

During a walking tour, we'll visit the Cathedral and the elegant Archbishop's palace that houses the Toulouse-Lautrec Museum; discover the hidden gems of the medieval architecture, admire the splendid views of Tarn and the surrounding countryside from the Palace gallery, walk on 1000-year-old Pont-Vieux, and taste a variety of excellent local products at the 19th century covered market.

Once your booking is confirmed, you call me to set up a meeting. If your tour starts from Toulouse, I pick you up and drop you off at your hotel. If you stay in Albi, we will meet in front of the Tourist Office in the city center.

Although It takes only an hour to drive from Toulouse to Albi, I recommend you to start at 9 am. Albi is a charming city that has a lot to offer to a traveler. After a 3-hour walking tour I'll take you to a restaurant for lunch (advance table reservation is possible at your request).

Then you have two options: to spend the rest of the day in Albi (shopping is really exciting there) or to go to a nearby vinery for local wine tasting (AOC Gaillac). In any case, at about 7 pm I drop you off, safe and sound, at your hotel
