Wouldn't it be fantastic to do an art workshop while visiting Provence? We offer a relaxing experience in an authentic and beautiful village, with a qualified teacher who is also a practicing artist.

Jean-Louis has degrees in both fine art (BA Fine Art) and teaching (Dip Ed, Art) and 30 years of experience teaching art to all ages - so you can be confident that you will receive expert tuition.

We never need to go very far and most sessions are en plein-air, reached by foot, somewhere in or around the village. Being an historical and beautiful village Jouques offers many aspects that are inspirational for any artist.

Our workshops can be customised to individual requirements and small groups.

Jouques is an easy 45 minute bus ride from Aix-en-Provence, or a 30 minute journey by car.

Itinerary

We meet at 9.30am in the atelier for an introduction to drawing tools and techniques, we also talk about composition, after which we walk to a site nearby for drawing en plein-air.

At 12.30pm we break for lunch which is taken at one of the local cafés (additional cost for client), then reconvene in the atelier at 2pm for an introduction to tools and techniques of water colour painting. We consider paper, brushes, style, strategy of working in this medium, then move on to an outdoor location nearby. This may be a short drive to a poppy field or lavender field, or to the edge of the forest or an old street in the village. We finish at about 6pm.
