Taste Tour Ile Saint-Louis

Many visitors to Paris never make it to Ile Saint-Louis, which is the historical small island just next to the Cathédrale Notre Dame de Paris. It is an ancient and cultural part of the city with famous artists, politicians and historical figures having lived on it.

Most people come to the island to get a taste of the famous Berthillon ice cream. (Which we will also do!). But exploring the island a bit more in-depth yields so much more richness. Plus, everything is fairly close, so if traipsing for miles around the city isn't quite your speed, this is a nice way to taste your way through one of Paris' most charming, historic and authentic neighborhoods.

Itinerary

We start by taking an informative stroll around the Western part of the island which is known as Place Aragon. I give you some history of this most ancient part of Paris and the oldest inhabited part of the city where French politicians, the king's architect and other famous historical figures have lived. We then stroll up the island and begin with a cheese tasting. Here, at this locals' favorite cheese shop, we taste 3 different cheeses.

Next, we continue our walk up the center of the island to a wine shop. Here we do a proper wine tasting of 3 French wines.

At the start of the second hour, we leisurely make our way to the restaurant where we dine on an appetizer, main and dessert.

After our meal (save some room!) because Ile Saint-Louis is famous for its ice cream. One of the city's oldest artisanal ice cream makers, family owned and operated since 1954, dishes up delicious scoops of this frosty treat in more flavors than you can imagine.

We end our gourmet tasting tour of Ile Saint-Louis by stopping in at one of the island's famous sweet shops or biscuiteries (artisanal cookies) before we bid au revoir over an optional coffee.
