Moorea Like a Local: Lagoon Cruise Including Snorkeling and Fishing with Polynesian Lunch

Discover the local way of life on this intimate full-day Moorea tour with a local guide. With no more than four people and 2 outriggers, on each tour, your guide teaches you how to paddle, spot the incredible abundance of fish as you go snorkeling, then local guide will explain the traditional ways of fishing and if you are lucky end with net fishing as you catch what you need for a traditional Polynesian lunch. Visit a local home where you will prepare your freshly caught seafood and indulge in a delicious traditional lunch. End the day with a visit to your local guides organic plantation where you will enjoy a range of fresh seasonal fruits.

Begin your day in the life of a local as you depart your hotel for a morning on the water.

Hop aboard your guides private outrigger and set sail for your fishing, snorkeling and paddling expedition. Your guide will teach you how to paddle like a local as well as fish with a net, if weather and swell conditions are good, as you catch your lunch for the day. Return to the island stopping briefly in the lagoon where you will have time to snorkel and find additional fish and shellfish, traditional in any Polynesian meal. If the weather is unfavorable, your guide will instead take you to a range of archaeological sites and teach you about the history and legends of Moorea.

As you arrive back on the island, take a short walk to a local home in the valley where you will learn how to make coconut milk and prepare your traditional Polynesian barbecue lunch of grilled fish, raw fish and local vegetables.

After lunch, visit your local guides “Fa'apu”, an organic plantation where you will indulge in a range of seasonal fresh fruits. Time permitting, you will then stop by the river to feed the eels. Throughout the day you will also have the opportunity to try your hand at coconut palm braiding.

Be returned to your hotel at approximately 4:30pm.
