Day 2: Mtskheta, Gori and uplistsikhe cave town

Svetitskhoveli is also one of the biggest in the country. Harsh conditions throughout Georgia’s history couldn’t stop the 10-century old building from retaining its beauty. The temple is on another UNESCO World Heritage listing because of its glorious architecture.

Stop At: Jvari Church, Mtskheta Georgia
Translated as “The Monastery of the Cross”, Jvari is a 6th Century Monastery that is, coincidentally, in the shape of a cross. It is located on a mountaintop with a great view of the meeting between the Mtkvari and Aragvi rivers as well as the entire city of Mtskheta. Jvari Monastery is listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, along with other historic structures in Mtskheta. Jvari is the perfect place for those looking to travel back in time and enjoy the architecture of the Middle Ages. Note that the place is windy throughout the entire year, so be prepared.

Stop At: Stalin Museum, 32 Stalin Avenue, Gori Georgia
The museum exhibits re-create surreal and revealing scenes from the life of the dictator and include unique photos, gifts, and furniture. The house where Stalin was born is preserved under a stone canopy nearby.

Stop At: Uplistsikhe Street, Uplistsikhe St, Gori, Georgia
translated as the “Fortress of the Lord“. The history of Uplistsikhe goes back to the 2nd-1st millennium B.C. In antiquity, the city was one of the most important centers of Kartli and in the middle Ages. It stood on an important trade route that linked Byzantium with India and China. In the 10th-16th century B.C. one of the strongest communities, residing on this territory used the natural caves for dwellings, later Uplistsikhe became one of the strongest political, cultural, religious and economic centers and the royal residence. The handicrafts made here are of high artistic quality, today kept in the State Art Museum of Georgia.

Day 3: Tbilisi City Full Day tour

Stop At: The Bridge of Peace, Tbilisi Georgia
It is a pedestrian glass and steel bridge in a bow-shaped design that sits over the Mtkvari (Kura) river in the Georgian capital. It was officially opened in May 2010. The bridge was brought to Georgia from Italy in 200 unassembled components. The bridge is 156 meters long and has more than 10 000 LED bulbs built-in, which is switched on daily 90 minutes before the sunset.

Stop At: Rike Park, The left bank of the Mtkvari River, Tbilisi Georgia
The Rike park is quite easy to find, as its main entrance is right from the beautiful pedestrian ‘Bridge of Peace’. The park is a host to numerous entertainment facilities like singing and dancing fountains, artificial climbing walls, children’s maze, mega-chess board, as well as footpaths and quiet corners. The start point of a newly opened cable car that takes visitors up to Narikala fortress is located in the Rike park, as well as a number of fancy bars and restaurants.

Stop At: Aerial Tramway in Tbilisi, Rike Park, Tbilisi Georgia
Cable Car. Tbilisi's most exhilarating ride – along with the Mtatsminda funicular – is the cable car, new in 2012, which swings from the south end of Rike Park high over the Mtkvari River and Old Town up to Narikala Fortress. To ride it, you need a Metromoney card, available at the ticket offices if you don't have one.

Stop At: Narikala Fortress, Tbilisi Georgia
From outside the fortress entrance, you can follow a path west in front of the walls along with the statue of Kartlis Deda (Mother Georgia). As attractive as a 20m aluminum woman can be, this symbol of the city holds a sword in one hand, and a cup of wine in the other. The explanation is really exciting: it shows perfectly the character of Georgian Women, as well as men, warmly welcoming guests and passionately fighting off enemies. Another important sighting here is the Botanical Garden, which is located at the foothills of the Narikala fortress. It occupies the area of the 161 hectares and possesses a collection of over 4,500 taxonomic groups. The little church/monastery up in the hills is another interesting sight in Narikala. It's called St. Nicholas Church and the internal part of the church is decorated with the frescos showing scenes both from the Bible and history of Georgia.

The Holy Trinity Cathedral of Tbilisi commonly known as Sameba is the main cathedral of the Georgian Orthodox Church located in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia.
