Itinerary

Day 1: Tbilisi City Tour

Stop At: Narikala Fortress, Tbilisi Georgia
Narikala fortress is the most known landmark of Tbilisi. No one leaves Tbilisi without walking around this amazing fortress. You can feel the history of Tbilisi, even though the walls are not in a great shape. During the day Narikala fortress draws your attention from all sides of Tbilisi. It overlooks Mtkvari River, which makes Narikala more incredible. Narikala is one of the most visited places in Tbilisi.
Narikala is an historical fortress overlooking Tbilisi. The fortress was founded in the 4th century.
Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Abanotubani, Abano St, Tbilisi Georgia
Abanotubani is the place, where according to legend, King Vakhtang Gorgasali’s falcon fell, leading to the discovery of the hot springs and, subsequently the founding of a new capital.
The bathhouses are located below ground level with only beehive-like domes visible on the surface.

Stop At: Metekhi Cathedral, Metekhi St, Tbilisi Georgia
Virgin Mary Metekhi church is located on the left bank of the river Mtkvari, on the cliff plateau , the first church on this place was probably built by Vakhtang Gorgasali symbolically resembling the church built on virgin Mary’s tomb in Gethsemane garden in Jerusalem. According to the legend the former catholicos Kirion transferred the body of the saint Shushanik to this church in 7th century.

Stop At: Mtatsminda Amusement Park, Tbilisi Georgia
Mount Mtatsminda (the name is translated as “Holy Mountain”) is located in the center of Tbilisi, on the right bank of the Kura River. It is one of the most popular sights of the capital, a kind of symbol of the city. This place is interesting both from the point of view of history and culture, as a natural phenomenon and as an excellent place for entertainment and recreation.

Stop At: Turtle Lake, Vake District, Tbilisi Georgia
Turtle Lake is located on the wooded northern slope of Mtatsminda Mount at elevation of 686.7 m above sea level. The Lake area is designed as a recreational zone and is frequented by the locals on weekends.

Stop At: Tsminda Sameba Cathedral, Elia Hill, Tbilisi Georgia
The Holy Trinity Cathedral Church is the religious center of Georgia. Its construction took 7 years and was finished in 2003. Its height goes up to 101 meters with 137 meter diameter including vestibule gallery. 10 churches are disposed in the interior.

Stop At: The Bridge of Peace, Tbilisi Georgia
Relatively newly constructed the Bridge of Peace is definitely the attraction one wouldn’t want to miss in Tbilisi. It is a pedestrian glass and steel bridge in a bow-shaped design that sits over the Mtkvari (Kura) river in Georgian capital. It was officially opened in May 2010. The bridge was brought to Georgia from Italy in 200 unassembled components. The bridge is 156 meters long and has more than 10 000 LED bulbs built-in, that are switched on daily 90 minutes before the sunset.

Day 2: Mtskheta-Jvari-Uplistsikhe

Stop At: Mtskheta Church of the Holy Cross, Mtskheta Georgia
Svetitskhoveli is the main Christian Orthodox Cathedral in Georgia, built in 1010-1029 cc by the Georgian architect Arsukisdze and represents the high artistic value of Feudal time’s architecture. It was the main pilgrimage place on the Silk Road, the burial place of the Christ’s Robe, the tomb place of Georgian Kings and the most frequently visited place in Georgia. It is listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site and is located in the historical town of Mtskheta, the former capital of the kingdom of Iberia.

Stop At: Jvari Church, Mtskheta Georgia
The masterpiece of Early Christian Orthodox architecture Jvari Monastery is dated 585-604 cc AD. Located on the hill top near the town Mtskheta, it is listed in UNESCO World Heritage Site list in 1994. The name is translated as the Monastery of the Cross.
Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Uplistsiche Cave Town, Kvakhvreli 15 km Eastwards to Town Gori, Gori Georgia
Uplistsikhe, the cave town is situated 7 km southeast of Gori on the left bank of the River Mtkvari. The site still amazes the visitors by its dimensions, extraordinary position, refined forms and the beauty of landscape. You will find huge echoing halls, long meandering corridor-streets, chambers for pagan worship and even the remains of Georgia's oldest theater there. You will be impressed by the skill, knowledge, experience and physical and spiritual power of all those, who created this unique monument.

Day 3: Kakheti-Signagi-Bodbe-Khareba

Stop At: Signagi, Signagi, Kakheti Region
Kakheti is considered to be the birthplace of wine culture and wine making. The wine represents symbol of the hospitality, friendship and tolerance for the Georgian people.Visit Signagi - old trading town with 17th c defensive wall around; Cobbled streets and terra cotta tile-roofed homes with colorful carved balconies and breathtaking views of the Alazani Valley give it a very charming character.

Stop At: Bodbe Monastery of St. Nino, Signagi Georgia
Drive to Bodbe monastery (2 km from Signaghi) - the monastery is one of the major pilgrimage sites in Georgia, due to its association with St. Nino, the 4th century female evangelist of Georgians, whose relics are shrine there.
Duration: 40 minutes

Stop At: Tunnel Winery Khareba's, Meurneoba District Kakheti, Kvareli 383320 Georgia
The largest storage of Georgian wines kept in the 7.7 km long tunnel shaped wine cellar which consists of 2 large parallel tunnels linked with 13 small galleries. The dampness of 70% and the ideal temperature (12-14˚C) for storing and ageing wine stays throughout the year.

Day 4: Ananuri Fortress-Gudauri-Kazbegi

Stop At: Ananuri Fortified Castle Ensemble, Georgian Military Highway, Ananuri Georgia
Ananuri, a castle complex perched along the turquoise waters of the Aragvi River, is a prime example of Georgia’s unique blended architectural aesthetic. It was home to the Aragvi feudal dynasty during the 18th century, and was the staging grounds of numerous battles that Georgians both won and lost.

Stop At: Gudauri, Gudauri, Mtskheta-Mtianeti Region
The Friendship of Nations Arch (Georgia) is one of the sights of the Georgian Military Highway. It is located on the Cross pass to the north of Gudauri. The arch stands at an altitude of 2384 meters, protruding above the cliff and the river below.
Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Mount Kazbek/ Mqinvartsveri, Stepantsminda Georgia
Pass through ski resort Gudauri, drive over Jvari (Cross) Pass 2395 m to the town of Stepantsminda , the administrative center of Khevi province. Change transport to 4x4 vehicles and have a short off-road adventure to Gergeti Holy Trinity Church – the most important altar of 14th century, located on the slope of Mount Kazbegi. The stone decorations represented on the façade of the church will lead you to the ancient rituals and beliefs.
