Elene Akhvlediani (1901-1975) was an XX century Georgian Painter, graphic artist and theater decorator. She is famous for her depictions of Georgian towns.

The interests of Akhvlediani were variegated and included, drawing, stage and costume design, book illustration. Her art’s studio in one of the Tbilisi twisting street was indeed a cultural center. Akhvlediani watched with interest the everyday life of Tbilisi and other Georgian provinces, the range of her favorite subject gradually taking shapes, they were the cozy quiet Telavi, the seaside Batumi with its tearoom and markets, the interior of the old houses, and the architectural monuments.

Stop At: Georgian National Museum, 3, Rustaveli Ave, Tbilisi 0105 Georgia

The tour starts from Tbilisi National Gallery (11, Rustaveli Ave., Tbilisi).The tour will be accompanied by the local guide. In the Museum you will be able to have a look at the most famous and rich coloring pictures by contemporaries of Akhvlediani

The next stop is Elene Akhvlediani studio house, where she lived and worked.

We will visit Qarvasla building, which is located at 8 Sioni Street, between Sioni church and touristic hot spot Shardeni Street. In the beginning, this building was a store for various goods and a barrelhouse. Today it is an active tourist spot, where one can explore Georgian history in the museum, exhibition, and trade.

In Qarvasla we will arrange the most important part of our trip – art workshop, which implies painting sessions according to Akhvlediani’s art with a lesson in the main elements of composition, color, and 0il pastel painting technique.
