Two days in Svaneti since Kutaisi

Departure for Mestia, the "capital" svane. Visit of the magnificent historical and ethnographic museum. There are superb medieval Svane icons, illuminated 9th century gospels and other relics of the past. The treasures of the Svanetian churches are collected here in number. After lunch and a short walk in the old Mestia, we will take the direction of Usgulli. This is probably the most fascinating place in Svanetia. With its four hamlets, fully covered with defensive towers, is under the protection of UNESCO. It is an authentic village and incredibly picturesque and photogenic!

Night in a guesthouse just behind the magnificent Lamaria church of the Virgin (XII century).

In the morning you can opt for a short hike to the Chkara glacier, about 18km without much difficulty, a horse ride or stroll through the village. Return in the middle of the afternoon to Kutaisi (about 6 hours drive).
