Wine Tour in Kakheti - One day private tour

In this short but rather intensive one-day tour in Kakheti, you will learn about all aspects of winemaking.

At 09:00 our driver will meet you at your hotel and guide to start the journey to Kakheti.

The first destination is Alaverdi Cathedral, (20 km Northwest from Telavi). Alaverdi Cathedral is one of the most important orthodox monuments in Georgia. You will have a short walk through charming streets of old Telavi and a photo stop at the monument

after Drive to Tsinandali, the residence of dukes of Georgia with beautiful English garden, a museum, and the wine cellar which belonged to prince Chavchavadze. You will taste wine there.

Final stop will be at"Twins" wine cellar in village Napareuli. Here you can find very interesting wine museum where and learn Georgian way of wine production. You will be able to try yourself at baking Georgian bread, cooking national dessert churchkhela, harvesting and squeezing grapes for wine.

The monastery was founded by the Assyrian monk Joseph (Yoseb, Amba) Alaverdeli, who came from Antioch and settled in Alaverdi, then a small village and former pagan religious center dedicated to the Moon. At a height of over 55 m (180 ft), Alaverdi Cathedral was the tallest religious building in Georgia, until the construction of the Holy Trinity Cathedral of Tbilisi, which was consecrated in 2004. However its overall size is smaller than the cathedral of Svetitskhoveli in Mtskheta. The monastery is the focus of the annual religious celebration Alaverdoba. Situated in the heart of the world's oldest wine region, the monks also make their own wine, known as Alaverdi Monastery Cellar.
