Experience Ghana at independence 2019. As part of the celebration of 400years since the first slave arrived in Jamestown Virginia, USA, Ghana will become the centre of attention as many Africans from the diaspora return home to experience the land of their ancestory. As part of the celebration, Independence 2019 will be specially dedicated to receive many visitors of diverse background. Aside the day, get to tour the country so see its beautiful culture and heritage sites in a week.
DAY 1: ARRIVE ACCRA
• Arrival and transfer to your Hotel.
• Overnight at your hotel.
DAY 2: ACCRA/KUMASI (B)
• Depart for Kumasi.
• Explore the craft villages of Ashanti for kente clothe at Bonwire which is known to be the place of origin of kente.
• Visit the Ntonso Township popular for making the Adinkra traditional textile which comes with philosophical meanings. Take a short seminar on how the printing is done and get to make your own design and take away.
• Finally, visit the Ahwiaa community for shopping for anything craft and wood.
• Overnight at your hotel.
DAY 3: KUMASI CITY TOUR (B)
• After breakfast, proceed on a city tour of Kumasi to the Manhyia Palace, Prempeh II Museum, Okomfo Anokye sword site and the largest open market in West Africa at Kejetia before retiring for the day.
• Overnight at your hotel.
DAY 4: KUMASI/ELMINA (B)
• After breakfast checkout of hotel for departure to Elmina.
• Stop en route at the Assin Manso slave river site for a tour. This was a slave market where enslaved Africans took their last bath in African waters before being locked up at the castles for shipment across the Atlantic into other parts of the world as slaves.
• Visit the Kakum National Park which boasts of the only Canopy Walkway in Africa. Take an adventurous walk on the walkway.
• Continue to check in to your hotel.
DAY 5: ELMINA/ACCRA (B)
• After breakfast, checkout of the hotel and visit the two UNESCO World Heritage Castles at Elmina and Cape Coast.
• The Elmina Castle also known as the Ft. St. Georges Castle was built by the Portuguese in 1482. As one of the largest slave castles in the world, it remains the oldest European building in sub-Sahara Africa.
• Explore through the dungeons of the Cape Coast Castle built by the British in 1665 and recently visited by President Barrack Obama in 2009.
• Continue to Accra for hotel check-in.
DAY 6: ACCRA CITY TOUR (B)
• After breakfast join celebrants at the Black Star Square to observe the 62nd independent anniversary celebration of Ghana.
• Explore British, Brazilian, Dutch and Danish Accra.
• Learn more about the independent story as you visit the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum
• Shop for crafts at the Arts Centre and explore the Victoriasburg district of Accra to sites such as the Black Star Square, Independent Square, Peace Park and the Danish Christianburg Castle.
• Continue to the W.E.B. Dubois Centre for Pan-African Culture for a guided tour.
• In the evening join the celebrations and your last night before departure.
• Overnight at your hotel.
DAY 7: DEPARTURE (B)
• Check out and transfer to Airport to connect flight to onward destination.
